ADS I'D LIKE TO DO #002: CAMERA FOR GIRLS

Episode I

MUSIC IN: (To Alex Turner’s “Hiding Tonight”)

OPEN TO Girl at a small college reunion party in a café.

Friends are hurdled and smiling and waiting for the shot but the girl just couldn’t seem to focus right,

they break up and laugh at her.

CUT TO: A church wedding, the bride and groom are about to kiss.

CUT TO: Girl at the front pew, fiddling with her camera and unable to get the shot.

CUT TO: Girl looks over and sees her father and mother shaking their heads at her, she looks down with the camera.

CUT TO: Girl sitting at bedroom desk with a small tripod and camera on top.

She’s looking at a wall full of blurry pictures.

CUT TO: Girl walking along at a waterfront, eyes cast downward as she does.

A voice startles her, she looks up and sees a young lady and an older man holding up a camera.

Lady asks her “could you a picture of us?” and sticks the camera in her hand.

CUT TO: the camera’s in her hands, she’s pressing the focus button and the picture was rightly focused to exactly what she wanted:

CUT TO CLOSE UP: the viewfinder, a close-up intimate photo of a young lady and her father, with the horizon at the background and a hint of sunset.

She looks up surprised. She snaps.

CUT TO: She looks up still surprised.

CUT TO: A flash. With the same surprised expression but girl is in a different dress and hairdo.

PULL OUT: The picture of the lady and her dad is in the background, very huge format.

Girl is at the centre of her own photo exhibition, THE CAMERA hanging in front of her,

her parents and her friends, and the lady and her father are there congratulating her, flashes away.
